EAT WELL IN CASWELL: It's About A Local Healthy Community
Our vision is to increase consumer access to fresh and nutritious foods in order to build a strong local food system.
Our vision is to increase consumer access to fresh and nutritious foods in order to build a strong local food system.
To increase consumer access and knowledge of fresh and nutritious foods and to build a sustainable food economy. This provides greater food security for all in Caswell County as it supports local farmers while creating jobs and prosperity.
The Caswell County Local Food Council started as a group of community members wanting a farmers’ market in Caswell County to purchase local food and produce. The first market was operated in Semora, North Carolina.
As the Market and scope of work changed, the Caswell County Local Food Council was created and filed for Non-Profit organizational status in 2015 and has operated the Caswell County Farmers Market in Yanceyville. Over the years the organization has expanded its scope to include all aspects of the local food system in Caswell County.
Caswell County Farmers Market will open on April 24, 2025, and run every Thursday 4-6:30 pm until September 25, 2025. This year there will be two holiday markets: Thanksgiving November 13, 2025 and Christmas December 4, 2025. Stop on by, you will be glad you did!
The Caswell County Local Food Council provides a complimentary lunch for the community on the third Wednesday of each month. Locally grown ingredients are featured in the meal and the event often includes a community member group providing updates and details on their activities.
Be a part of building a stronger Caswell as a Donation Station Sponsor! In 2025, the Caswell County Farmers Market will include a Donation Station, a Cooperative Extension program, that will assist both our farmers and the hungry here.
Donations will be used to purchase farm fresh food from the farmer vendors at each market and provide it to the ‘food pantry of the week’ to receive the food.
Currently Caswell County has six groups that we know of that collect and distribute food to those in need. They are Caswell Parish, County Outreach Ministry, High Street Baptist Church, Locust Hill UMC, Pelham Community Center and Shady Grove UMC.
Businesses (and individuals) may sign up below to sponsor a week at $100 or a month for $500. Thank you!
